DowAIM zero ODP insulated upstand board

AIM Zero ODP Insulated Upstand Boards are manufactured from a CO² blown extruded polystyrene ‘STYROFOAM-A foam’ bonded to a weather resistant high impact facing board. They are used for thermal insulation and protection of upstand walls in flat roofing.

Fire Resistance

The impact resistant facing board complies with the performance requirements of Class O of the Building Regulations, is incombustible to BS476 part 4, and is rated Class 1 Surface Spread of Flame to BS476 part 7.

Decoration

Where required the facing board may be painted without any special priming using an alkali resistant paint or emulsion. Two coats of paint will usually give a satisfactory finish. Suitable paints are:

Acrylics, Chlorinated rubber, Epoxy, PVA, PVC, Polyurethane and silicate.

Installation

The boards should be cut to size using a TCT saw (a face mask is advised to guard against dust). The board should be fixed directly to the upstand wall using the recommended through fixings. Fixing centres should not exceed 600mm. Fixings should be positioned at least 50mm from the top of the facing board, but should not exceed 200mm. In the event that a roof deck is not supporting the bottom of the board, additional through mechanical fixings should be used to compensate.

Mechanical Fixings

AIM recommends Speedline DDS fixings or similar approved when installing this product. Ensure that the fixings are a minimum of 25mm longer than the overall thickness of the board. These are available from SIG Fixings and other approved distributors.

  • Tensile Bond Strength (TBS) testing in accordance with test method EN 1607
  • 300 cycle Freeze / Thaw action tested to EN 12091-97 cycling between -20 to +20 degrees centigrade
  • Ozone depletion potential of zero; CFC and HCFC free
  • ‘STYROFOAM-A foam’ meets the Code for Sustainable Homes Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than five.
  • Compressive strength of extruded polystyrene ‘STYROFOAM-A foam’ is 300kPa
  • Facing board is highly resistant to impact damage and offers an extremely robust finish.
  • Thermal Conductivity: Extruded polystyrene ‘STYROFOAM-A foam’ is 0.035W/mK; facing board is 0.47W/mK; (R Value) of 56mm board is 1.44m2K/W
